Surprise! It’s been a long time.   So the Trillhaase family Christmas party was fun. Kit came with me to that and we hung around for a little while. I made Santa Hat brownies again.  Christmas was good! I was supposed to go to Kit’s on Christmas Eve, but had to make an appearance at my grandma’s first and it would have been too much driving back and forth so I ended up not going to his family’s get together. He came to my aunt’s on Christmas day though. That was nice. He gave me a gift card to Cooper’s Hawk which is where Kiersten and I meet for dinner every week. It has been put to good use already! I got him Notre Dame sweatpants (they were kind of a big deal), a sweater, and I made him a collage with a ticket from the ND game we went to, a picture of us, and some newspaper clippings about the team.  Here is a picture of that:

Kit has a Christmas village. Look how cool it is!

My sister gave me a cake pop tray and my aunt gave me a cake pop kit. I haven’t tried that yet, though. Cake pops are a lot of work! My mom got my dad a hat with lights on it to grill in the dark, but it went back because it didn’t work.  I gave my mom a Kindle.  All in all, it was a fun holiday season. It went by so fast though! New Year’s was pretty laid back, we just had a little celebration in the barn.  I didn’t get very much time off of work. I took Christmas Eve and the Friday before New Year’s Eve off.  Here are some pictures from New Year’s Eve.

I am obsessed with this necklace!  I want to buy it for myself, but I recently started keeping track of what I’m spending and too much money goes to buying things I like.. soo I’ll save it for a special occasion.

I heart Illinois. wpid-2013-01-02-09.42.08.jpg

I bought this necklace for Mallory for Christmas.  I had her in our Secret Santa with my college friends. I like this one too.

Last weekend was a busy one! My family went out to dinner to celebrate my sister’s graduation from her Master’s program.  We went to a restaurant called Venuti’s near my house. Her boyfriend, Rich, and my grandma came with. It was a fun time! We sat by the fireplace. The restaurant is really nice and the food was awesome! I had salmon, shrimp, and pasta. My meal came with octopus and calamari, but I opted to leave that out.  After dinner, I picked up the gang at Kit’s to go to Suzy’s.  It was a pretty regular Friday night except for the couple making out at the bar and when a guy sat down next to me and started talking to me I said, “Before this goes any further, you should know that that’s my boyfriend and he will punch you.” The kid promptly got up and left.  On Saturday, Kit and I went to Carson’s karate competition. It was cool! He was really good and won his division (?) It reminded me of gymnastics meets.  After that, we met some friends for lunch  and a drink and then we went home to change before meeting Kiersten and Mike for dinner at Stonewood Ale House in Schaumburg.  I had heard a lot of good things about that place and I was a little underwhelmed.  The food was alright, but the company was great! We had a fun time.  I was so tired after that. We had a long day.  I met Val for coffee on Sunday. I hadn’t seen her in a long time! It was good to catch up. I love coffee dates.

Lunch time! I have baked mostaccioli from Portillo’s! I love it. I won a bet about what time Jake would come in on Monday. My guess was 2 minutes off from when he showed up (at 10:09 a.m.)  My prize was lunch and I picked Portillo’s even though it is far away and it was freeeezzzing on Monday.

Ha. I’m gonna go enjoy that.
