4th of July and Other Things

Posted on: July 8, 2013

I haven’t done this in a while, but here are my favorite posts from Post Secret this week:

I can’t believe its already July 8th! Summer is flying by. Before I know it, I’ll be 25! I had a fun weekend and 4th of July. I spent a lot of time at Kit’s house. The pool is finally warming up! We had a little get together on the 4th and watched fireworks from the backyard. I made that strawberry no bake cake, but not too many people ate it! Here is a picture of the girls.

Kit and I watched Despicable Me since the 2nd one just came out. We were supposed to go see it with Bella, but we haven’t yet. We went canoeing on the 5th. Renee and Carson came with. I like canoeing, but it gets boring after a while. 2 hours is a long time to sit and float.. We went to Rowdy’s after we got out of the canoes and got them loaded onto the truck. I had $10 in my pocket and Kit’s dad had $12 so they wanted to stop for a beer. I was excited because they had Angry Orchard, but I got carded so I couldn’t get a drink. It’s nice to jump in the pool and relax after a long day like that. On Saturday, Kit and I went to Starved Rock. We brought Jessie. It was really fun! I’m glad we went. Starved Rock itself is actually kind of dull, but we found some other cool trials and saw a bunch of people with dogs. We took 71 all the way there and somehow missed it on the way back and got a little lost. Here are some pictures!

When we got back, we cleaned the inside and outside of my car. The inside was covered in Jessie’s fur and the outside was dirty from the gravel road we had to take to get back home! My car has never been so clean! Too bad it rained this morning.. Kit and I also watched Side Effects this weekend. I had seen the previews a while ago and thought it looked good, but it was not as good as I had hoped. Channing Tatum dies early in the movie so how good can it be?! Yesterday I visited my grandma and did some stuff around the house. I researched cars since I need a new one. I like the Hyundai Elentra, Mazda 3 and Kia Forte. It will be a tough decision. Cars are expensive! I also need to get a computer soon. I decided to start saving Shop Kick points for a Best Buy gift card. Every little bit counts, right?!

I did fun things last weekend too. Kiersten graduated from the police academy so I drove up to her house on Friday night for a ‘not party.’ It was great to see her and her friends!

The next day, my dad went with me to bottle the wine we made. It was a really cool experience. They have all sorts of tools and things you would never have known about. I think the corker was my favorite. We got to fill the bottles of wine, cork them, and put the shrink wrap on top. We put labels on when we got home. I thought we made Shiraz, but we actually made Merlot! We took home 25 bottles! Here are some pictures from that:

That night, my college friends were getting together so I drove to the city to see them. It was really fun seeing everyone! I haven’t seen Renee and Christine in so long! We are all getting together again soon when Jburg is in town!

Did I mention I went to the Blackhawks parade? It wasn’t too far from where I work so a few of us were able to sneak away to check it out. In the video, watch closely and you will see the cup go by!
