Weekend Events and Projects

Posted on: April 8, 2014

I spent most of Friday night and Saturday morning preparing for the Almost Home Foundation Red Carpet event. I had been tweeting about it for months! One of the volunteers who usually helps with events was out of town so she asked me to step in. Man, I’d prefer to just have something assigned to me next time! I was doing ticketing and registration. It was tough! I used most of the info the other volunteer had given me, but I had to make sure everyone who registered had a ticket. Also, everyone got a wristband and the VIP’s got a special wristband. I was in charge of 7 people. I spent a solid 4 hours preparing on Saturday before the event but I still don’t feel like it was enough! Every time someone came in and gave us their name, I prayed they were on my list! It was hard because another volunteer kept adding people and switching things around up until an hour before the event! It was crazy. We also didn’t have anyone to work the coat check which we didn’t know was our responsibility, but we got it taken care of. All in all, I’d give myself a C+ for the job I did! I guess now we know what to do and not to do for next time. The event went really well! I think the people really enjoyed it. Here are some pictures and videos I took. The celebrity impersonators looked really great!

On Sunday, Kit and I went to Calamity Jane’s for breakfast. Man, I love that place. We split the meat lovers’ skillet and French toast. So good! I had a mimosa and Kit had a bloody Mary. Then we made this wine rack and watched the second Harry Potter movie! Kit came across something similar to this on Pinterest and we decided to make it! That do you think? We only used an old pallet, some tools his dad had, and stain to paint it! We might start selling them if we can make enough!
