Rome day 2

Posted on: June 2, 2014

Yesterday was a busy day! I had a piece of toast with cheese, a hard boiled egg and a croissant thing for breakfast. They have cereal too but not eggs and muffins. Jen and Aunty Donna left around 9:30 to go to the Papal Audience. My mom and I went shopping because her tourist purse neck strap thing broke so she wanted a little purse. We found one right away but continued to shop. We took the long way because the streets are so confusing! There is no thought behind them. They all wind different ways and change names. It’s crazy! We crossed the river which was pretty cool. They shopping street had a lot of cool stuff! We saw a Ferrari store, prada, Gucci and a store called Coin. There were a lot of street vendors too. I wanted to peruse more but it was hard for my mom. I went into a drug store and that was pretty cool! They had a counter with those amazing sandwiches and people were standing there eating and drinking coffee. Very neat. They sold wine, Olive oil, pasta. I guess it was more like a grocery store. We decided to start heading back around 12:30 because we were supposed to meet the zinns at the hotel between 1:30 and 2 and I wanted to leave room to get lost. I decided to walk along the river the whole way which worked and got me back to where I recognized until there was no place to cross the street to get back to the hotel. We got lost and I got angry and starving. We bumped into Jen and Donna on the street at around 2. They had already eaten so we stopped at the closest cafe and had bruschetta and pasta. The bruschetta was very good, the pasta was only ok. It was spaghetti in a tomato sauce. We stopped back at the hotel after that to regroup. Then we went to the Spanish Steps. They were so crowded! It was cool to walk up them and look out over Rome. After that, we walked to the Trevi Fountain. That was awesome! I really liked it. It’s a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It was fun to look around for a while. We decided to continue on to the pantheon after that. We stopped for dinner on the way. That was delicious!! I had penne with a tomato garlic sauce, mom and Donna had lasagna and Jen had rigatoni with bolognese. The waiter gave me wine corks for my collection! He was very nice. The pantheon was underwhelming. We took a few pics and left. It was nice not to get lost! Jen and I went out for a glass of wine at nighttime. We found the pizza place the artist I liked was in front of. We had a big glass of red wine there for €3. It was pretty good. The pizza looked amazing! I want to up back tomorrow. We stopped for another glass somewhere else then called it a night. Here are some pics!
