Last day in Rome

Posted on: June 4, 2014

Yesterday was our last day in Rome. It was another busy one! We started with a 3 hour tour of the Vatican and St. Peter’s basilica. Everything was beautiful! Michael Angelo was a genius. His sculptures and paintings are amazing! The Sistine chapel was unbelievable! It was gorgeous and hard to imagine how he painted the ceiling so high up without the technology we have now. The whole tour was very beautiful with tapestries and sculptures that are over 2,000 years old! We had lunch at a nearby cafe after. I had gnocchi which was good, but not all that better than in America. We took a quick nap after that and I ran out to get the painting I had been wanting. We went back to the same 2 places Jen and I went out alone to the other night, but in reverse order. The pizza we had for dinner was so good! I think ours had ham, artichokes, mushroom, sauce, cheese and Olive oil. It was very good. We had red wine as well. We went back to the other pizza place for dessert. The waiter really liked Jen and bought her a gift from a street vendor. It was really fun! We also found a nice wedding gift for my sister from my mom. The jewelry shop owners were very nice! The language barrier was very hard to get around but we were able to get what we wanted. I saw a man with his garage door open and asked to take photos of his garage for my dad in America. He didn’t speak any English, but showed me the different parts of the garage and told me to take a picture of the engine in his car.
